Summary:
FRANCINE is sweet. You'd like her. She was the baby sitter you trusted, the worst clarinet in the school band, the cute girl who had a crush on you in high school but you were never interested because it was just too easy and she had no charisma. You wanted a cheerleader, Francine was a choir girl. She's taller than you would expect, and she always smells nice. Her upbringing gives her a sense of decency that anchors her life and paralyzes her with guilt.
She is heterosexual by nature, remember the All-American dream and all that, but the extraordinary events in her life lead her to Katchoo. Watching what she does with that is fascinating. Francine is just as multi-faceted as Katchoo, but far less confrontational, even with herself, hence the pleasant sidekick persona.
But when circumstances force her hand, Francine can be just as brave, angry, jealous, strong or mistaken as any woman. Interestingly enough, Francine never rises to the challenge on her own behalf, but always does so for Katchoo.
